The Best European Camping holidays

Posted on April 07 2017

When the Easter holidays or half-term comes around, many parents are keen to take their children away on a fun family holiday however, the prices of many hotel resorts can be expensive – especially at this popular time. We’re a big fan of camping here at Kids Travel 2, and these days it holds many more possibilities beyond simply sitting in a tent in a field. If you’re stuck on what to do during your next family break, why not explore Europe with one of these fun, exciting and often luxurious camping holidays?

Campsite Valkanela – Croatia

Camping

About the campsite: Croatia has been rising in popularity as a holiday destination in recent years and it’s not hard to see why once you take a look at its clear, sparkling seas, luscious green landscapes and idyllic beaches. The Valkanela campsite gives you and your family the opportunity to take advantage of these breath-taking natural surroundings. Located in a peaceful cove between Vsar and Funtana, it is surrounded by water and safe, smooth pebble beaches for the whole family to enjoy, with a newly opened swimming pool for those that prefer not to swim in the open sea! It boasts a busy schedule of planned sport and entertainment activities, as well as many pubs, bars, restaurants and even a nearby nightclub for young adults to head to on an evening.

Easter events and offers: This Easter, the Valkanela campsite is offering nature loving families the chance to enjoy a gloriously green getaway, from the comfort of a luxurious mobile home. A traditional Easter breakfast is included, with a fun welcome package and creative workshops offered for children. Find out more online

Weather forecast: Known for its Mediterranean climate, heading to Croatia in Easter will certainly be warmer than in the UK, with average temperatures of 12 - 14°C . However, the months of July and August can reach up to 26°C.

Camping Eden – Lake Garda, Italy

Lake Garda, Italy

About the campsite: A family-run campsite, using this experience to create a wonderful environment for other families to enjoy. It is located by Lake Garda, famous for its incredible beauty, in a peaceful, sheltered complex. Adults will enjoy soaking up the panoramic views while basking in the sun as kids explore the tennis courts, three exciting pools (complete with waterslides) before tucking into the local delicious delicacy at the on-site pizzeria-bar.

Easter events and offers: Camping Eden doesn’t take reservations until the end of April, so it is not an Easter destination. However, if you book a getaway out of season, from 23rd April until 1st July, it offers a 15% discount making it a great option for a low-cost getaway later on in the year.

Weather forecast: If you do head to Camping Eden a little later on, you can expect glorious weather! In May, it can reach up to 22°C, with an average temperature of 17°C.
